Why doTERRA?

Founded in 2008, doTERRA was built on the mission of sharing highest quality essential oils with the world. Having seen for themselves the incredible benefits that can be had from using these precious resources, a group of health-care and business professionals set out to make this mission a reality. They formed a company and named it doTERRA, a Latin derivative meaning “Gift of the Earth.”

Safe, Effective and Pure

There are several ways to produce essential oils, and not all essential oils are created equal. Some companies choose to cut costs by using low-quality plants or adulterate their oils with cheap substances. While cutting corners might save an essential oil company time and money, it will result in a low-quality oil.

When you use a bottle of doTERRA essential oil, you’re using an oil that is pure. There are no contaminants, fillers, or adulterations. The essential oil industry did not have standards to ensure purity, so doTERRA created one. Every batch of doTERRA essential oils goes through a rigorous testing process—well beyond what would be considered “good enough.” After that, each oil is sent to an independent third party for further testing and validation.

Essential oils have been used for over a thousand years, but we are just scratching the surface of their potential. In the past, knowledge of essential oils was solely based off anecdotal experience. However, scientific research of essential oils has increased exponentially. In the last decade, there have been more studies published about essential oils than in the last 500 years combined.

As a leader in the essential oil industry, doTERRA invests in research and testing to remain at the forefront of essential oil science. Through partnerships with research facilities, hospitals, and universities, we’re learning more about the therapeutic potential of essential oils.
